Always hits the spot. This is a hidden gem for authentic Chinese style Beef Noodles. Make sure you try the home made hot sauce.
The tofu dishes are delicious and the large size beef broth soup noodle are the bests!!
Not a bad beef noodle place. The tofu and the seaweed were actually really good appetizers. I got the news and tendon noodle soup and I quite enjoyed it. The beef tendon was probably one of best tendon I've had in a dish, so if I come back here I'll definitely get just the beef tendon noodle soup. Also tried the tofu and egg dish which was very refreshing.
We had the beef noodle couple years ago. It reminded me of MSG in the noodle broth. We decided to try it again today and it is still the same as before. A lot of MSG from its stock powder made for the broth. Not only it made us felt sick and dizzy. We were very thirsty thru the whole day after the lunch. The beef also were also tasteless like from the instant noodle vacumn pack. Servicer was also rude and careless. Will not come back again!
This spot provides first-rate service and delicious food. One of my favourite places ever. The drinks and food arrived quickly and the rates were affordable. Highly recommended.
Consistently hot, fresh, delicious beef noodle soup. Bold, savoury flavours and fresh bok choi. Warming comfort food. The waitress is a sweet lady. An exceptional, cheap, satisfying lunch every time.
I love their beef noodle soup! Texture and taste are just perfect and soup is amazing as well, I finished the whole bowl empty. Stinky tofu is a little disappointed, it's perfect if tofu has dryer body, but still it is a very good Taiwanese restaurant.
Great place for small groups. I've been going to this place for many years and seems they've actually increased their portion sizes (I ordered a small beef noodle) and the broth has returned to the original good flavour from some while back. The stinky tofu always arrives fresh, delicately crisp.
Mei Nung is a restaurant that's easy to find. You don't even need Google Maps. Just utilize your nose and follow the scent of manure. While the smell is off-putting, the noodles and stinky tofu here are yummy. Their beef noodles come with braised beef that is just so perfectly lean and tender. I had my first stinky tofu here and it tasted better than it smelled. The first few bites were the worst. Every time I chewed, I understood why it was named as such. After chewing it a couple times though, the pungentness goes away and it's just tofu. The stinkier stinky tofus are the most delicious ones according to some. If you can overcome the smell or if you want to challenge your willpower as you eat, definitely give this place a try.
Food was terrible; beef bowls were was salty and sour, in the end we were told the tip wasn't enough. They only take cash and E-TRANFERS. One of the worst lunch experiences, and beef noodles I've ever had.
Excellent beef noodle soup. The noodles seem to be freshly handmade everyday. Would love to challenge the stinky tofu next time!
yummy :) perfect portion!
Decent price for beef noodles and stinky tofu. I always ask for the glass noodles which is more tender and chewy. Generous portions. Didn't have to wait long for a table.
I love this place. If you want a good bowl of noodles and stinky tofu, this is the place. Beware that I believe they are closed on Tuesdays.
One of my current quests is to find the best Taiwanese beef noodle soup around Toronto. I thought this place was pretty good! Although I was hoping the broth would be a bit more flavourful; I also wasn’t a huge fan of the noodles it came with. Overall I still thought it was decent. I tried their fish balls as well, and actually ended up liking it more than the beef noodle soup. They do stinky tofu here on the weekends, so if you can’t stand that smell I recommend going on a weekday.
The smell of stinky tofu travels far. Coupled with the excellent hot sauce, the stinky tofu is one of the best I've had in ages. Noodles and dumplings are very hearty and well priced too.Food here tastes simple, honest and delicious.Good retro experience overall.
Smell is a bit off-putting but a true Taiwanese noodle soup delight!!! Love their minced beef one, so good. Not over-hyped but definitely keep your expectations reasonable. It's good, but not mind blowing
The food served in this restaurant is very delicious. The noodles are thick noodles, and the soup is superb because flavors are natural. The beef brisket is also very well seasoned and cooked.Another superb dish is their “stinky tofu” .If you have never had any experience with it , you may not like it. But for anyone who likes it or wants to try it, this is one if the very few places that makes very delicious.I come here regularly with my girlfriend, and i strongly recommend this to anyone.
This restaurant is at the end of the block of restaurants along the southwest end of the parking lot. I could smell a certain odour as I approached the door. The smell of the stinky tofu really hits you when you walk inside the restaurant. I found that the noodles/broth wasn't as flavourful as I expected it to be. It was on the side of being tasteless but my cousin begged to differ and loved the broth. The noodles were chewy and delicious and a decent amount of meat was given. The stinky tofu was not as stinky as I've had previously and the taste was not at all like what I've had before. I'd said it's okay but not great. My aunt found the tofu to be too dense and not as airy. The sauce that it came with was nice to dip it in. Be warned that you and the clothes you wore inside will smell when you leave. You may not smell it but other people around you definitely will.
Consistently fantastic stinky tofu, noodles, preserved vegetable side dishes. We've returned multiple times because it's that good.
The service is always rapid, good vibes, super nice staff members. Will return here again when I arrive nearby.
One of the best authentic taiwanese noodle places in town, hands down. The beef is oh so tender. The smell may deter you, but while stinky tofu is called stinky tofu for a reason, there’s also a reason why people will stand in line for it :)
Among the best beef noodle soup places I've been to. Try the beef noodle soup, go large. Noodles are chewy in a good way, and fresh. Dumplings are also very good. Try the deep fried tofu, but beware if you haven't tried this kind of fermented tofu as it has a strong smell.
1st time going there. Very good. Would recommend to others and will go back if in the area.
This is the best beef noodle place in Markham. It’s really close from the stuff you eat in Taiwan. The noodles have a good bite to it, the braised beef was flavourful and the soup was great. Price is good too at $10 for a large bowl. But it is cash only.
Tiny place that serves their specialties beef noodle soup and stinky tofu. You can smell the stinky tofu before you walk in. Noodles are not over cooked and the chunks of beef are chewy.
The beef noodle soup is tasty but it seems to me that something is missing and I just can't pin point what. The stinky tofu is a bit over fried this time when I went so it's a bit too crispy, my take-out stinky tofu tasted better this time.
Delicious noodles and sticky tofu!!!
Nice place for lunch, been enjoying the noodle for years
I enjoyed the large size Homemade Beef Noodle Soup. The broth was tasty and the presentation of the food was appealing. I plan on returning for some more noodles!
Love the noodles. I always get the same thing and I'm never disappointed.
Authentic Taiwanese beef noodles. I usually don’t eat stinky tofu but I love theirs because it’s less stinky. Overall 4.5 out of 5.
Good food. Place is nice. Service is the usual Asian place.NOTE: cash or e-transfer only. Hope they change that. Owell.
Mei nung takes cash only. The store usually isn't packed when you get there around 6 PM and if you check into the store on yelp you get 10% off. My usual order is the stinky tofu and their beef and beef tendon noodles. The noodles are made in store and the broth is rich and flavorful. I do suspect that MSG is in there because I'm usually parched after eating their noodles.
Fast service and food is delicious. It is a debit or cash only place. The restaurant also serves stinky tofu but I think the menu just stated "fried tofu", so be careful of that!
This place stinks. Stinks of smelly toufu. If you can handle the stinky aroma then you can sit down and enjoy one of the best braised beef noodle soup Toronto has to offer. Not many people can as I've seen some customers turn away as soon as they open the door and face the aroma. This is my third visit to the location and every time I either order the braised beef noodle soup or the the braised beef noodle soup with tendons large. The noodles are handmade and chewy, broth flavorful and the meat tender. $9.99 before tax and if you check in you get a 10% discount, pay by cash only.
decent food portions and tasty noodles. Just wished their stinky tofu portions were smaller. nearly impossible to finish for two with a bowl of noodles each.
The beef noodles are amazing, though you might not like the smell of the stinky (but delicious) tofu that fills the restaurant. Cash/e-transfer only.
Delicious! My favourite beef noodle place.
Stinky tofu. Rich beef and beef tendon. Thick chewy noodles. Fat juicy dumplings. Can’t go wrong here...
This place is awesome! Fair prices, considerable portions and the staff are regularly very kind.
Always love the beef noodles.. It's the best..
Love their stinky tofu!Caution, it’s very “stinky”The restaurant is full of its aroma. If you don’t like it you find it stinky. If you like it you will addict to it.Eat at your own risk (not sarcasm).
The size of the bowl is one of the best parts. I was stuffed halfway in the heated up the rest for lunch. The amazingness continues, soup. 5 stars
Great stinky tofu. It really brings out the flavour of their noodles.
Taste ok but the services is not very good here.I came here during lunch by myself and after I what into the restaurant no one come sit me down and I just stand there for around 3 minutes. All of a sudden I thought is a customer chatting with someone else on a table stand up and ask me "how many" not even looking at me.I also have to look for somone to order and pay my bill.Cash only as well.I feels like they don't care about my business so I will never come back
Best beef noodle spot in town. The price is very reasonable too, $1 more to upgrade to large. Their stinky tofu is as authentic as it gets without going back to Taiwan.
We ordered the beef noodle soup, braised pork noodles, and of course...the stinky tofu! The food prices were fair, and the portions definitely were large enough. We had a group of 4 and we felt satisfied. They have a jar of their satay sauce at each table which is really spicy and good. Service was quick. One thing to note is that the restaurant does smell of stinky tofu. Would definitely recommend based on the dishes we had and are looking to come back soon.
I head to Markham often, just to come here. It smells amazing inside, and the food tastes even better! Their beef broth is some of the best I've ever had, and their homemade noodles and dumplings are amazing. The staff is nice and the service is quick. If you haven't been here, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
The whole place stunk. The stinky fried tofu smell is overwhelming. I couldn't enjoy my beef noodles . End up leaving after a few bites.
